A 396 room apart-hotel constructed to shell and core finish, plus bathroom pods to each suite.
The 14 story reinforced concrete structure contains a two level deep basement constructed in a secant piled retaining wall, and is founded on CFA piles. The high quality facade is of natural stone curtain walling pre-fabricated in China and shipped to site in a carefully orchestrated logistical operation. The bathroom pods were prefabricated in our own works in Enfield and lifted into place on the project completely finished, thus ensuring a consistently high quality product.
The basement facilities comprise conference rooms, plant rooms and storage. Ground and mezzanine contain public spaces, lobby and restaurant. Floors 1-13 are bedroom suites, whilst floor 14 contains lounges and a plant room.
The location adjacent to Waterloo International station, and fronting directly onto the busy Addington Street, gave rise to difficult construction and safety issues. However the entire project was completed without and reportable injury.
