The project includes the construction of 170 apartments in two elements comprising a three storey crescent and a 10 storey tower; and over 29,000 sq ft of retail / leisure units, a 9 stand bus terminus, basement car parting and a feature public square.
The building works can be summarised as follows:
The tower block comprises a 10 storey RC framed structure. This consists of 1 way spanning slabs supported on RC walls. Additional support is gained from RC columns and the shear core. The top storey comprises a steel portal framed structure supporting a lightweight roof.
Adjacent to Duke Street, a new bus station has been provided and is shown in the photographs. The bus station comprises a curved canopy structure, partially attached to the retail block within its length. At the entrance to the bus-station, a new waiting room/control centre has been provided.
