Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne

Redrow Homes (Southern) Limited

A residential development of 260 apartments in six blocks varying from six to eight storeys, based on a concrete frame complete with under croft parking. The facades consist of rain screen render and cedar panels with high quality glazed units and feature balconies. The roof construction consists of a raised seam metal system fixed to structural steel framing incorporating glazed screens and decking areas.

The buildings are accessed via a feature decked walkway over car parking facilities for both residents and berth holders. The outer harbour road is paved and includes street lighting and hand railing to suit the surrounding harbour environment. A new facilities building has been constructed to accommodate berth holders, incorporating a viewing deck.

Environmental considerations played a major part in the development of this project, it was essential to provide continuous access to both the harbour masters facilities and the berth holders at all times during construction. The scaffolds were fully 'wrapped' to keep noise and dust to a minimum whilst security was maintained on a 24/7 basis.
