The project comprises a 181 bedroom Novotel hotel in a single building with 7 upper storeys and one basement level, at Lauriston Place in Edinburgh.
The Novotel sits between a proposed new office development to the north and a new build Premier Lodge hotel to the west, on the same site. Both hotels were constructed at the same time, Ardmore co-operated with the contractor for the Premier Lodge so that neither were delayed and safety issues were eliminated.
The Novotel comprises basement car parking, plant room, staff facilities, swimming pool/leisure club and public toilets; ground floor foyer, reception, bar, meeting and conference facilities, main kitchen and administration offices; 6 upper levels of bedroom accommodation and a plant room at roof level. A feature is the real sandstone facades that match the architecture of the local area.
The project also includes external works including: the reinstatement of existing public footpaths on two elevations and adjacent to the main entrance to the hotel; the realignment of the road junction between Lady Lawson Street and Lauriston Place; and formation of half of the shared service yard between the Novotel and Premier Lodge hotels.
The programme for the works involved a 72 week timescale.
